What a difference a year makes

On Dec. 1, 2017, the sun was out, the sky was blue and confetti rained down from above. Sand was turned by small shovels on a day dedicated to the promise of tomorrow.

Fourteen months later, a tower is being constructed in what was once a parking lot beside Batson Children’s Hospital. The promise of a groundbreaking in 2017 is now being fulfilled.

The bricks and mortar are taking shape, forming the seven-story future home of 88 neonatal intensive care rooms, additional space for operating suites and pediatric intensive care, an imaging center for children, and an outpatient specialty clinic.

This time next year, the tower’s interior will be under construction. By Christmas 2020, this transformational pediatric expansion will be the place where Children’s of Mississippi medical professionals will be caring for the state’s ill and injured children.

That this magnitude of progress can happen in just a few short years shows not only Children’s of Mississippi’s dedication but also the love that Mississippians have for their children. Our expansion would not be possible without the support of our community. Together, we are building this new state-of-the-art space.

The Campaign for Children’s of Mississippi has raised more than $70 million in two years, and the effort to help fund this project is ongoing. Gifts and pledges of all amounts are helping bring about a healthier future for our state’s children.

Your tax-deductible donation will help this expansion continue on schedule. This January, won’t you consider making a gift toward the Campaign for Children’s of Mississippi?
